SFWMD CEPP New Waters A-2 STA Inflow Outflow Canal

3.5 miles of an Inflow/Outflow Canal, an adjacent Seepage Canal and associated levees along the North side of the future 6,500 acre A-2 Stormwater Treatment Area (STA).

LOCATION: Palm Beach County, Florida owner: South Florida Water Management District contract: $12,930,000

CONSERVATION

This work will improve the quantity, quality, timing and distribution of water flow from Lake Okeechobee to the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee Estuaries, the Greater Everglades Conservation Area 3, Everglades National Park, and Florida Bay while maintaining flow control and water supply.

1.6 MILLION CUBIC YARDS

Blasting and canal excavation was over 1.6 Million cubic yards

500,000 CUBIC YARDS

The Levee embankment and sloping was over 500,000 cubic yards.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The project also included environmental protection, limerock roads and grassing.
