FDOT project SR-821 (Turnpike) Widen HEFT from SR 836 to NW 106th Street
LOCATION: Miami-Dade County, Florida
CONTRACT: over $10 Million
Halley Engineering and Ryan Inc. Southern were awarded the widening of the Homestead Extension of the Florida’s Turnpike (HEFT / SR 821) from 6/8 lanes to 10 lanes, from milepost 26 to milepost 34. While Halley Engineering will do the larger portion of the improvements, Ryan’s portion included widening and reconstruction of the HEFT / SR 821 mainline and associated interchanges improvements at NW 12th Street, NW 41st Street, NW 74th Street, and NW 106th Street. Ryan’s scope included over 100,000 cubic yards of lake excavation, 40,000 cubic yards of subsoil excavation of unsuitable materials to facilitate the roadway construction, as well as 250,000 cubic yards of embankment for the roadway widening portion and over 200,000 square yards of topsoil and berm slope grading.
